Access to FS Catanico Falls in Cagayan de Oro City is set to improve significantly as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Engineering Office has started the procurement process for the concreting of a 1.371-kilometer section of the access road leading to this famed tourist destination. Project Contract ID No. 25KD0061 has an approved budget of P96.5 million, with completion target of 334 calendar days. While the public resort facilities in the area have suffered from neglect and deterioration, the improved access road could help revitalize the site and attract more visitors.

Below are screengrabs from the recent pre-bidding conference by DPWH Cagayan de Oro DEO.

TIEZA spent some P10 million in building the facilities which included, among others, a hanging bridge, picnic sheds, bathhouse, toilet, ticket booths and other amenities.
Here’s the hanging bridge.

Sadly, the picnic sheds and the toilet facilities have already deteriorated.

Catanico Falls can be accessed by foot (a short walk) from the access road. The falls sits in between large boulders.
