PROJECT WATCH: TIEZA groundbreaks ecotourism projects at Cinchona Forest Reserve Park in Lantapan, Bukidnon

The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) recently broke ground several ecotourism projects at the Cinchona Forest Reserve Park in Kaatuan, Lantapan, Bukidnon. These initiatives aim to enhance visitor experience while preserving the natural beauty of the iconic heritage site. Part of the Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park, recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park, the developments underscore sustainable tourism and conservation efforts.

The developments include:

Cinchona Forest Reserve:

  • Construction of a Welcome Marker Landmark
  • Construction of a Hanging Bridge (connecting the Ferns and Orchidarium Area to the Gazebo Area)
  • Two Comfort Room Buildings
  • Renovations of the White House, Visitor Center, Bark Shed, and Guardhouse

Mount Dulang-Dulang:

  • Songco Entry Point Dormitory with Basic Facilities

Mount Kitanglad Summit:

  • Intavas Entry Point Dormitory with Basic Facilities

TIEZA Planning Division Manager Engr. Noel Yambao, representing TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Dr. Mark T. Lapid, led the groundbreaking ceremony together with Department of Tourism Northern Mindanao Regional Director Marie Elaine S. Unchuan, DENR Region 10 Regional Executive Director Henry A. Adornado, Bukidnon Vice Governor Clive D. Quiño, Lantapan Mayor Ernie R. Devibar, Protected Area Superintendent (PASu) of Mt. Kitanglad Lisa Requiña, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Officer Thomas Cardente, Former PASu Protected Area Management Office of Mt. Kitanglad Merlita L. Tabamo, and Ecotourism Operations Officer Ryan Velarde.

These initiatives will encourage visitors to explore the natural and cultural significance of the region, reinforcing a shared commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism.
