Highlighting the lack of discipline among many drivers in Cagayan de Oro, the Special Action Teams (SAT) issued a total of 215 tickets for traffic violations during their first week of operations. According to a summary report shared by CDO Traffic Overseer Atty Jose Edgardo Uy on Facebook, 58% of these violations were for double parking or parking on travel lanes. The remaining tickets were issued for parking in No-Parking zones. Of the 215 tickets, 25 were Traffic Citation Tickets given to drivers who were inside their vehicles but obstructing traffic. The majority, however, involved unattended vehicles, with 190 tickets issued for illegally parked cars left by their drivers. Notably, 80% or 99 of the vehicles parked on travel lanes were left by drivers.

The SAT are randomly deployed across various areas in the city to monitor and enforce motorists’ compliance with traffic rules.
