Rey ‘Stingrey’ Nambatac can finally call himself a PBA Champion after the TNT Tropang Giga defeated Baragay Ginebra, 95-85, in Game 6 of the Season 49 Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last Friday, November 8. This marks his first title, coming seven years after he began his PBA career with Rain or Shine, where he spent his first six seasons. His trade to TNT on July 2, 2024, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The 30-year old Nambatac contributed 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, helping TNT clinch the series, 4-2.
Incidentally, Nambatac celebrated his first title with fellow Kagay-anons JP Erram and Glenn Khobuntin.
