Four universities in Northern Mindanao have earned spots in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings. Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in Iligan City placed in the 701-750 range, followed by Xavier University (XU) in Cagayan de Oro in the 801-850 range. Central Mindanao University (CMU) in Maramag, Bukidnon ranked in the 851-900 range, and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) in Cagayan de Oro also made the list in the 901+ category.
