Xavier University – College of Nursing emerged as the champion in the 3rd Battle of the Nightingales, a region-wide inter-school quiz bowl competition focused on the nursing arts, held on August 23, 2024, at Robinson’s Place, Butuan City. The winning team, consisting of Level 4 students Sofia Cris T. Vitor, Hamza S. Hamim, Toni Andrea N. Gomez, and Fer Gus Gere B. Yuag, with coach Ms. Sharille Cristine C. De Castro, RN, MAN, clinched the top spot, earning a cheque worth P20,000 and a trophy.
Iligan Medical Center College secured second place, while Bukidnon State University took third. Father Saturnino Urios University finished in fourth place, with Capitol University rounding out the top five in fifth place.
“Being able to wave the proud banner of Xavier Ateneo – College of Nursing in this year’s Battle of the Nightingales is an honor and blessing in itself,” the team remarked. “Our victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication we have for the art and profession of nursing.”
The team also expressed their sincere gratitude for the support they have received, stating: “We extend our deepest gratitude to the council, the organizing team, the college dean, Hon. Gen. Romeo V. Calizo, and our supportive coach, Ma’am Sha De Castro, who never doubted us.”
