Mayor Klarex orders release of over 300 impounded tricabs without penalty; still not allowed along highway

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy has ordered the release of over 300 tricabs, sidecars, and motorized sikads that were impounded during heightened operations along the National Highway, where they are prohibited. This decision followed a forum with the operators and drivers of these vehicles at the City Tourism Hall. Mayor Uy also waived all corresponding penalties but emphasized that these vehicles are still not permitted as public transport along the National Highway, as mandated by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Meanwhile, Roads and Traffic Administration head Engr. Nonito Oclarit advised owners and operators to bring their Official Receipt/Certificate of Registration (OR/CR) to claim their impounded units. Those who attended the recent forum will be given priority. The units are currently stored at facilities in Kauswagan and Pagatpat, with a mechanic available on-site to assist owners if needed.
