While Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan will eventually transfer to its “Campus of the Future” in Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, a total of eight (8) buildings with exceptional and historical significance at the existing main campus along Corrales Avenue will be retained and preserved. Both Xavier Ateneo and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) have jointly agreed to establish a Historical Preservation Zone at the said campus comprising the said buildings and the spaces around them.
The NHCP will honor Xavier Ateneo with a historical marker during the centennial celebration in 2033. Established by the Jesuits in 1933, it was the first Ateneo school in the country to be given “university status” (in 1958), making it also the first university in Mindanao.
The 8 buildings to be preserved are as follows:
1. University Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

2. Lucas Hall

3. Campion Hall

4. Xavier Hall

5. Science Center

6. Old Library

7. Library Annex

8. Museo de Oro
