The city-run JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, is set to open its ‘Human Milk Bank’ on August 22, 2024, to support breastfeeding mothers and neonatal care. This initiative aims to provide a safe and reliable supply of breast milk to infants in need of special nutritional support. This will be the second facility of its kind in the city, following the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) Human Milk Bank.
The Human Milk Bank will collect, screen, process, and dispense donor breast milk to ensure that all infants have access to the best possible nutrition, promoting their health and development. This facility underscores JRBGH’s commitment to maternal and child health, and it is expected to provide an essential service to mothers and their babies.
