Iliganon cadet graduates magna cum laude from US Coast Guard Academy

Victoria Gil Echavez Regalado from Iligan City, Philippines, has graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), becoming the second Iliganon to do so after Daisy Anne Atayan in 2021. Regalado graduated magna cum laude in BS Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering which made her the first Filipino to graduate with such degrees from the academy. In 2020, she was appointed by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) as an international cadet under International Cadetship Program of the USCGA. Congratulations!

She is one among 225 graduates of USCGA Class of 2024 during the 143rd Commencement Exercises held last May 22.

It can be recalled that Regalado was appointed as an international cadet in 2020 by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) under the International Cadetship Program of the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) Class of 2024. She is a graduate of the Philippine Science High School Central Mindanao Campus in Balo-i, Lanao del Norte. She will be commissioned with the rank of Ensign at the PCG and will serve a minimum of eight years of continuous active service. The cadetship program is part of PCG’s vision of establishing a first-class Cadet Corps as a precursor to the establishment of the Philippine Coast Guard Academy.

In 2021, Daisy Anne Lasaca Atayan of Brgy. Maria Cristina became the first Iliganon to graduate from the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.
