The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-10 has already started the procurement process for the Camiguin Airport Project which covers the construction of a new runway. The project with a total budget of P700 million aims to enhance the airport’s capacity and functionality. It will be developed in three distinct phases: Phase 1 and Phase 2, each allocated P250 million, and Phase 3, with a budget of P200 million. The completed runway will have a length of 2.40 kilometers and a width of 45 meters, designed to meet international standards.
As shown below, the new runway will be re-oriented relative to the existing runway.

The primary objective of the project is to expand the existing runway to accommodate larger aircraft. Additionally, the runway will be reoriented to address current limitations, such as its proximity to a mountain, which currently prevents it from handling bigger planes. The new design will enable the airport to facilitate turbo planes, commonly used for international flights.

DPWH-10 Regional Director Zenaida Tan provided the updates on this project during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas yesterday, May 28.
Initially, during the recent Senate Inquiry, there were three options on how to improve Camiguin Airport. See below.

OPTION 3

DPWH will be coordinating with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for the project.
Below are screengrabs during the recent pre-bid conference for the project (Phase 1, 2 and 3).
