Officials of the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) led by its Chairman Ronnie Ong have arrived in Cagayan de Oro and paid a courtesy call on City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy to discuss the implementation of the agency’s resolution to takeover Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD). LWUA has also named Engr. Antonio Ramirez as the Interim Board Chairman of COWD with Fermin Jarales designated as Interim General Manager.

In the meeting with LWUA officials, City Mayor Klarex Uy expressed his sentiment on the 2017 contract between COWD and COBI which provided automatic increase of bulk water rates every three years. City Mayor Klarex Uy also wished LWUA would mediate the contractual dispute between COWD and the Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Inc. (COBI).

Meanwhile, in a press conference, both COWD General Manager Antonio Young and COWD Board Gerry Cano refuse to acknowledge LWUA to intervene and maintain they are still the Board and GM.
