Construction of SM City Iligan is set to commence soon after securing all necessary permits. This information came to light following a courtesy visit by SM Project officials, led by Charles Kenneth De Leon, to Engr. Leonardo D. Hamoy, City Building Official, at the Office of the City Building Official (OCBO) on May 14, 2024. During the visit, discussions centered around the construction plans and the application process for the required permits. SM is expected to obtain the permit by June, with construction likely starting in July 2024. The project is anticipated to take one and a half years to complete, with the opening projected for the 4th quarter of 2025.
During his meeting with the City Building Official, Charles Kenneth De Leon was accompanied by Jerome See, Design Director; Architect RM Murillo, SRI Project Manager; Engr. Sam Reyes, Civil Works Design Engineer; Engr. Vicente L. De Los Santos II, Civil Engineer; Engr. John Lester Armintia, Electrical Engineer; and Engr. Jayrold Dastas, Sanitary Engineer. Additionally, the meeting was attended by Engr. Leonor T. Actub, City Engineer; Engr. Maria. Brenda B. Barretto, North Chief; Engr. Jenny Perl A. Ugmad, Architectural Inspector; and Engr. Junalie Grace L. Alfanta, Line and Grade Inspector.

The much-awaited perspective of the upcoming mall remains to be seen.
