A Coconut Sauce Processing Facility is now rising in Magsaysay town in Misamis Oriental. Funded under Additional Financing 2 and the European Union, the project which is being facilitated by the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) under the Department of Agriculture (DA) is valued at Php 23,511,962.42 and includes processing machinery and equipment, delivery vehicle, and the construction of the coconut sauce processing facility. It intends to benefit the 243 members of the Mindulao Farmers Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative (MINFARCCO). The project broke ground last March 19 and is set to be completed in December this year.
Members of MINFARCCO are optimistic that the project will help the cooperative recover their loss from the pandemic. Also, the cooperative aims to expand the coconut sauce processing and marketing activities. PRDP’s interventions will also aid in increasing the volume and improve the coconut syrup outputs leading to more opportunities for their members.
