Police in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental successfully intercepted and arrested a suspected carnapper who stole a white Toyota Fortuner in Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City late Friday afternoon, May 10. While police set up the check point, a concerned citizen took action, using his pick-up to ram the vehicle from the rear, causing it to spin and stop in front of the Municipal Plaza. The suspect is now detained at the Tagoloan Municipal Police Station awaiting criminal charges.

Initial reports indicate that the victim, a company driver, left his vehicle unlocked while parked along the highway in Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City, intending to be away for only a short time to buy food. The suspect then suddenly went inside the vehicle and sped off towards the direction of Tagoloan. The victim reported the incident to Puerto Police Station who then alerted Tagoloan Police describing the vehicle and the plate number.

The suspect is shown behind bars. Accordingly, during interview, he stole the vehicle because he wanted to go home to Kinoguitan, Misamis Oriental. He gave his name as Crispino Banaag.
