High-ranking CTG leader, 43 other NPA rebels surrender in Bukidnon

The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division (4ID) has announced the surrender of a high-ranking Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) leader operating mainly in Bukidnon. In a press conference, 4ID Commander Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, stated that Randy Bayot alias Gov/Kap, who served as the Spokesperson/2nd Deputy Secretary/Finance Officer of the Regional Staff, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee of the CTG, and 43 other CTG members have embraced the path to peace and surrendered to troops under the 403rd Infantry Brigade of 4ID led by Brigadier General Michele B. Anayron Jr. in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon last May 7, 2024.

Bayot who is 48 years old and a resident of Sitio Sunny Day, Brgy. Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon surrendered along with 43 other members following a series of focused military operations, intelligence and psychological operations conducted by the 1st Special Forces Battalion, 8IB, 88IB, 26IB and intelligence units, bringing along five (5) M16 rifle and one (1) M14 rifle.

According to him, his decision to surrender came in the wake of relentless military operations aimed at rooting out the remaining CPP NPA Terrorists in the area. Additionally, extreme exhaustion, desire for safety, and the opportunity to reunite with their families have played a pivotal role in his decision.

Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon served as the Spokesperson/2nd Deputy Secretary/Finance Officer of the Regional Staff, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee of the CTG. He surrendered to troops under the 403rd Infantry Brigade of 4ID led by Brigadier General Michele B. Anayron Jr. in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon on May 7, 2024.

Said CTG leader is one of the top most wanted high-ranking CNTs facing two (2) counts of murder with CC Nrs 26724-15 and 26725-15, multiple frustrated murder with CC Nr 24456-23, destructive arson with CC Nr 6524, kidnapping and serious illegal detention with CC Nrs 6525 and 6527.

In his statement, Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of 4ID expressed his appreciation on Bayot’s surrender and for heeding the government’s call for peace and reconciliation. This will eventually lead to the surrender of the remaining demoralized members.

“This progress displays the end of terror of the CTG in Bukidnon and continue the opportunity for development and progress. Hopefully, this will leave a mark to the minds of the remaining personalities that it is not yet too late to return to the folds of the law and start a new life. Follow the footsteps of your former co members who are now enjoying the benefits provided for by the government. The downfall of the CTG in Bukidnon is inevitable and your only option is to embrace the path to peace and development,” he added.
