To address pedestrian safety amid increasing vehicular traffic, traffic lights will soon be installed in four (4) major intersections in Opol, Misamis Oriental. As disclosed by Municipal Vice Mayor Danilo “Vox” Daroy Jr in his Facebook page, the proposal which has been approved by DPWH Misamis Oriental 2nd District Engineering Office will cover the installation of traffic lights along the National Highway in Igpit, Taboc, Poblacion and Luyongbonbon.

No details were given as to the exact locations but based on the map, it is safe to assume that the Igpit Traffic Light will be at the Youngsville Junction while the Taboc Traffic Light will be at the junction near Grand Imperial. Meanwhile, the location of the Poblacion Traffic Light could be placed in three possible junctions (fronting Municipal Hall, BeerBQ Avenue and Opol-Canitoan Diversion Road). The Luyongbonbon Traffic could possibly be in the vicinity of Opol Fishport.

The first traffic light in Opol was installed in Barra at the intersection of Kauswagan-Opol Diversion Road as shown below.
