The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has signed a consultancy contract with the Joint Venture of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP and ASA Law Firm yesterday, February 4, 2024, for the conduct of the pre-feasibility study for the Mindanao Railway Project (MRP) Phase 3. The project is a 54.8-kilometer high-capacity, inter-city passenger and cargo railway system spanning across the highly urbanized city of Cagayan de Oro, connecting the Municipalities of Laguindingan and Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

In a signing ceremony held in Laguindingan City as part of the DOTr’s 125th Foundation Anniversary, Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista said the undertaking proves the Department’s commitment to prioritize infrastructure projects in Mindanao.

The consultancy contract with the joint venture will involve project preparation services for a preliminary assessment of the viability of MRP III in Northern Mindanao.
