At the sidelines of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin, Germany, the Philippine Ambassador to Germany Irene Susan Natividad, presented Kauswagan’s “From Arms To Farms” coffee table book to Minister Cem Özdemir of the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kauswagan in Lanao del Norte and the From Arms to Farms Foundation were invited by the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture to showcase its sustainable development efforts to end hunger through organic agriculture. This innovation forum is organized by the German government and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Shown below is the sponsored booth at the Innovation Forum during GFFA 2024. This platform enabled them to share to the International Community their innovative contribution to the peace process in Mindanao through organic farming.
The Arms to Farms Foundation was founded by Kauswagan Mayor Rommel Arnado, and represented by Ms. Marisa Lerias in GFFA. Minister Cem Özdemir himself personally visited the booth to learn more about this award-winning Filipino initiative. Philippine Ambassador Irene Susan Natividad met with Ms. Lerias and also visited their booth to graciously support the Foundation’s efforts.
Arms to Farms was also positively mentioned during the High Level Debate on “Food, Climate, and Security” as a exemplar of conflict resolution through sustainable agriculture.
