After statistical data on vehicular accidents in the city showed a significant increase of motorcycle riders who were either brought to the hospital or became fatalities for not wearing helmet, the 20th City Council of Cagayan de Oro approved City Ordinance No. 14671-2023 reimposing the mandatory use of safety helmet for motorcycle drivers and their pillion riders in the Poblacion area and other urbanized areas in the city repealing City Ordinance 14421-2022.
