‘Desilya’ by Kagay-anon filmmaker wins Best Mindanao Film in 21st Mindanao Film Festival

“Desilya”, a short film by Cagayan de Oro filmmaker Toni Cañete has won the Best Mindanao Film award during the 21st Mindanao Film Festival held December 6-9 in Tagum City. It also won Best Screenplay for Toni Cañete as well as Best Actress for Wally Walter. Considered as one of the longest running regional film festivals in the country, this year’s edition featured more than 40 short films from all over the country.

The film follows the story of a 16-year old balikbayan who returns home after thirteen years, embarking on a grueling road trip with her estranged grandmother to look for her runaway mother.
