Hailing from Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, Luna is a cum laude graduate of Ateneo de Manila University. He previously attended Corpus Christi Grade School and Xavier University High School in Cagayan de Oro. Notably, he is the grandson of esteemed academician Charita Luna, Ph.D., a professor emeritus at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP).
