A Brown Co. Inc. has announced it has secured wind energy service contracts from the Department of Energy (DoE) for wind power projects in Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental. In a disclosure at the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the company reported that it has notified its subsidiary, Hydro Link Projects Corporation (HLPC), regarding DoE’s awarding of the service contracts which took effect last November 28, 2023. HLPC will now proceed with pre-development activities and studies to ascertain the feasibility of the applied areas.
HLPC’s Bukidnon Wind Power Project is covered by Wind Energy Service Contract No. 2023-10-333 and will be located in Malaybalay City, Cabanglasan and San Fernando, Bukidnon while its MisOr Wind Power Project will be located in Balingoan, Claveria, Salay, Sugbongcogon, Kinoguitan, Talisayan, and Medina, Misamis Oriental and covered by Wind Energy Service Contract No. 2023-10-335.

The contract area for the Bukidnon wind power project is around 5,589 hectares with a target capacity of 136 MW, while the contract area for the Misamis Oriental wind power project is 8,991 hectares with a potential capacity of 200 MW.

With this development, there are now four awarded wind power service contracts in Northern Mindanao following the 100MW Camiguin Onshore Wind Power Project of Freya Renewables Inc. and 100MW Lanao del Norte Wind Power Project of First Gen Visayas Energy Inc. Both are still in pre-development stage.
