A new 15-hectare camping ground will be established soon in Malasag, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. This was revealed by Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Cong. Rufus Rodriguez during a project presentation held at the DPWH 2nd District Engineering Office (DPWH 2nd DEO). The development will cover tof key structures such as an Administration Building, Grand Stand, Arena, and Toilet and Bath Facilities, with an estimated budget of P78 million, inclusive of P25 million earmarked for the road network and pathways within the campgrounds. Once completed, these facilities will serve as venues for hosting local and national scouting events, including jamborees and various camping activities.
According to the plan, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) are allocated 7.5 hectares of land each. This initiative is set to be executed in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Mr. Eduardo ‘Bong’ Pelaez, President of the E. Pelaez Ranch Incorporated.
Meanwhile, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has pledged to conduct a thorough study to guarantee the availability of clean and potable water in the area.
Furthermore, Cong.Rufus is set to allocate funds through the DPWH for the construction of access roads leading to the campgrounds as well as fencing project around the entire area, ensuring that the site is well-protected and secure.
