The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently recognized Heaven’s Bakehaus and Enterprises in Iligan City as the National Winner for the 2023 DOST Small Enterprise Upgrading Program (SETUP) Productivity, Resilience, Agility, Innovativeness, Sustainability and Excellence (PRAISE) Award for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) during last month’s 2023 National Science, Technology and Innovation Week celebration in Iloilo City. Owned by Mr. Marc Claro and his wife, the bakeshop is known for its main product Piaya de Iligan. It received its SETUP assistance in 2016 for upgrading the piaya and pastel processing equipment. Registered in 2012, Heaven’s Bakehaus began with an initial capital of PHP5,000, driven by the intention to establish a livelihood for a single parent residing with the proprietors.
