Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro City, now known as Lumbia Air Base, has undergone significant upgrades since it became a Philippine Air Force facility. Recent satellite imagery highlights its remarkable transformation. As part of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) with the United States, it is one of several installations in the country benefiting from this partnership. The US government is contributing approximately $3.7 million for various EDCA initiatives at Lumbia Air Base.
Clearly visible now to all passing motorists are the newly constructed low-rise buildings occupying the former parking area of the airport.

In addition to the updated runway markings, extensive site clearing along long strips of land parallel to the runway is now apparent.

Meanwhile, located on the northern end of the runway, you’ll find a newly constructed parking apron along with fresh runway markings.

Here’s the southern end of the runway now with a “01” marking and another parking apron.

As new airport hangars are built, various residential subdivisions are also sprouting in the vicinity of the air base.
