The exact location of the 60-hectare project known as “The New City” has been identified, thanks to the aerial photos released by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro. These images reveal substantial progress at the site which is located adjacent to the proposed USTP Lumbia in Mahayahay area of Barangay Lumbia. The project covers four distinct phases of development, including residential communities and commercial areas, spread across 60 hectares of public land.

Accordingto Oro Trade and Investments Promotions Center (Oro-TIPC) chief John Asuncion, less than half of the 60 hectares allocated for the project will be set aside for beneficiaries of the Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino Housing Program (4PH) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.
The development will become a showcase of public-private partnership (PPP) by the city government that will generate 20,000 housing units and substantial tax revenues. Further, four letters of intent (LOIs) were already submitted to the Board of Investments that involve projects such as a mall, a convention center, a public market, and a transportation terminal.
