The Province of Bukidnon has declared drag queen Amadeus Fernando Pagente or known as Pura Luka Vega, persona non grata after his impersonation of Jesus in a remix version of “Ama Namin” or the Lord’s Prayer in the Catholic Church.

In a press release, the 27th Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Bukidnon led by Vice-Governor Clive D. Quiño, approved Resolution No. 2023-2074 condemning his acts which ridicule both Christians and Islamic beliefs.

The Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) even label it as an insult and desecration of the Christian faith and teachings, especially the unjustified use of the sacred image of the Catholic Church.

Pagente was earlier declared persona non grata in Toboso, Negros Occidental, General Santos City as well as in Floridablanca, Pampanga and just recently in Manila.

Vega is also facing a complaint by the Philippines for Jesus Movement filed in Quezon City for violating Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) and Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act. Article 201 punishes persons who perform “indecent or immoral” acts “whether live or in film” that “offend any race or religion.”
