The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has included the expansion of the existing Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) of Laguindingan Airport in its proposed budget for next year (2024). This was confirmed by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) in its letter to Misamis Oriental 2nd District Congressman Yevgeny Vincente Emano. Meanwhile, the airport’s runway extension and expansion of cargo terminal are also being proposed for implementation in 2025. All projects are still subject to the budgetary ceiling to be imposed by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Accordingly, these projects are still being highly considered by DOTr notwithstanding the result of the evaluation of the unsolicited proposal by the Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. for the development and operation of the airport under the Operate-Add-Transfer (OAT) scheme.
