The Governor Ysalina Bridge in Cagayan de Oro City will be expanded to 4 lanes soon. This was revealed by City Administrator Atty. Hilario Raagas during this morning’s Monday Convocation Program at City Hall. Accordingly, this was recommended by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) following a recent inspection on the city’s oldest steel bridge which was built in 1939 citing public safety concerns. It can be recalled that last December 2022, the DPWH-10 issued a travel advisory which further reduced the load capacity of the bridge from 7 tons to only 4 tons where only light vehicles are allowed to cross.

Several structures will be affected by the bridge project including portion of Duaw Park.

Meanwhile, the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) will be implementing a new traffic scheme at the bridge within the week.

The bridge was named after Paciencio Ysalina who served as Misamis Oriental Governor from 1951-1954.
