Isabelo “Jojo” Lastimosa Jr. just became the first Cagayan de Oro-born coach to win a title in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) following TNT Tropang Giga’s conquest of Barangay Ginebra last night for the PBA Governor’s Cup title. A 10-time PBA champion as a player, Lastimosa was named interim head coach of TNT Tropang Giga just this year following Chot Reyes’ decision to focus on Gilas Pilipinas.

Interestingly, two Kagayanons are also in the roster of TNT Tropang Giga’s winning team – John Paul Erram and Glenn Khobuntin both winning their second PBA championship.

Lastimosa won 1 title Purefoods and 9 with Alaska. He retired in 2002 and was named as among the PBA’s 25 Greatest Players. He has been an assistant coach in the PBA since 2006.
