City Hall awards garbage collection contract to joint venture; hauling operations already underway

After months of waiting, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro has finally awarded the collection of garbage in the city to a private contractor, a joint venture firm between Cebu-based JOMARA Konstruckt Corporation and CDO-based Tencil Construction Inc. This was revealed by City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) head Engr. Armen Cuenca. Accordingly, collection has already started last Friday, March 24. The contract price is around P220 million for a 12-month collection period.

The new private garbage collector will use a total of 70 garbage trucks of which 52 are already in the city while 18 are still being transported. Engr Cuenca is mulling that the major collection be undertaken at night.
