Two new hairy hedgehog species were recently discovered in Mindanao including one at Mt. Kitanglad in Bukidnon and another at Mt. Hamiguitan in Davao Oriental and Mt. Kampili in Davao de Oro. The new wildlife species are named Podogymnura minima and Podogymnura intermedia, respectively. The P. Minima is soft-furred and smallest species of the Philippine Gymnures which are endemic in Mindanao.
