The City Government of Iligan City, led by Mayor Frederick Siao, welcomed the Aboitiz Group headed by Aboitiz Foods President and CEO Tristan Aboitiz to personally see the vast potential of the National Steel Corporation site as a future modern industrial hub. The city aims to revitalize the NSC property into an economic estate and has offered the site to the Aboitiz Group, which could generate thousands of jobs and opportunities for the local workforce. The visit follows earlier discussions with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) as the city intensifies efforts to attract major investors. The Aboitiz Group is not new to Iligan, as its subsidiary Pilmico Foods already operates a factory in Kiwalan.
