PROJECT WATCH: MSU-IIT unveils plan to build new state-of-the-art flagship facility

A new state-of-the-art facility composed of three seamlessly interconnected buildings centered around a grand atrium is set to rise within the main campus of Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). In a Facebook post, Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan unveiled the proposed flagship project, which will replace the old School of Engineering Technology (SET) building. The modern, integrated complex is envisioned to enhance academic excellence, foster innovation, and create a more dynamic campus environment for the MSU-IIT community.

The main features are as follows:

Building A – will be the College of Economics, Business, and Accountancy (CEBA), housing state-of-the-art innovation hubs and advanced laboratory facilities to drive entrepreneurship, research, and practical training.

Building B – supports graduate programs alongside facilities for the Research Institute for Business, Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences (RIBHESS), providing dedicated spaces for advanced studies, interdisciplinary research, and scholarly excellence.

Building C – a dynamic multi-purpose wing, featuring a grand university ballroom, modern cafeteria, clinic, convenience store, IBCI office, an inspiring gallery, and comprehensive student support offices—all designed to foster holistic well-being, events, and everyday convenience.

Central Atrium – serves as the vibrant heart of this flagship complex, seamlessly connecting the three buildings (A, B, and C) into a unified, dynamic space that promotes collaboration, interaction, and a sense of community. This inspiring central space transforms what could be a simple connector into a living, breathing centerpiece—symbolizing openness, innovation, and the interconnected future of the university.

This architectural masterpiece, inspired by Torogan, blends contemporary elegance with functional excellence, symbolizing MSU-IIT’s commitment to transformative growth and a brighter future for our community.

Here are additional conceptual designs that lean toward a more modern aesthetic.
