The Cagayan de Oro Seafood Wholesalers Association (COSWA) is proposing the construction of a new, modern Fish Landing Facility in Punta, Macabalan. The project is designed to enhance food safety, sanitation, operational efficiency, and the orderly distribution of seafood, creating a cleaner and safer environment for handling fresh marine products while better serving vendors, buyers, and the community. The proposed facility will replace the current fish landing site near the Westbound Public Market and Terminal, which has become congested and is facing sanitation and environmental issues. Check out some conceptual renderings of the proposal courtesy of ICA Trading Corporation.

The existing facility in Bulua currently handles seafood deliveries from across Mindanao.

The proposed facility will be situated along the new Coastal Road, as illustrated below, and will require site backfilling as part of the land development works.

Keep posted.
