RTA begins dry run of No Left Turn scheme at Vamenta–Masterson Junction

Cagayan de Oro City’s Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) has begun the dry run of its proposed ‘No Left Turn’ traffic scheme at the busy Vamenta Boulevard –Masterson Avenue Junction in Carmen to help improve traffic flow and reduce congestion during peak hours. The scheme, implemented from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., reportedly went smoothly with minimal disruption, but several motorists and netizens noted that the test coincided with the suspension of classes due to Tropical Storm Basyang, resulting in lighter-than-usual traffic and making it difficult to accurately assess the measure’s real impact under normal conditions. Despite this, the RTA will continue monitoring the area and gathering feedback as it evaluates the effectiveness of the traffic scheme.

Under the new traffic scheme, motorists coming from Masterson Avenue — including those from Uptown, Zayas, and Macanhan — will no longer be allowed to make a left turn toward Vamenta Boulevard. Instead, they will be redirected to proceed to Kagay-an Bridge, make a turn at Rodelsa Circle, cross back over the bridge, and then turn right toward Vamenta. Meanwhile, vehicles coming from Vamenta Boulevard will also be prohibited from making a left turn toward Kagay-an Bridge. Motorists from Macanhan and Balulang are advised to take the alternate route via Acacia Street.
