CRIME WATCH: CIDG arrests alleged communist insurgent linked to Misamis Oriental attacks

Authorities arrested a 26-year-old woman known by the alias “Jai” in Butuan City on December 23 for alleged involvement in communist insurgent activities in Misamis Oriental. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), with support from regional police units, carried out the arrest based on two warrants for rebellion and violations of international humanitarian law. Police said the suspect is listed as a member of a communist group’s medical unit and is allegedly linked to several attacks in the province, including the 2017 burning of two trucks in Claveria owned by Del Monte Philippines.

Based on a CIDG report, Jai, married, a resident of Purok 1, Brgy Farmbugas, Claveria, Misamis Oriental is a member of the Medical Unit of Sandatahang Digma Group Samsung, Guerrilla Front Huawei, Sub-Regional Committee 1 (SR-1), North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC). She is listed in the AFP’s Periodic Status Report (PSR).

The suspect was allegedly involved in several violent activities and alleged terroristic acts in Claveria, Farmbugas, and Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental, including the burning of two ten-wheeler trucks owned by Del Monte Philippines in Brgy. Don G. Pelaez, Claveria, Misamis Oriental in 2017.
