A video of a woman in a jersey shirt performing CPR on a young boy while others looked on has gone viral. The woman has been identified as Julla Angela Daculiat, an incoming sophomore nursing student at Bukidnon State University (BukSU). Netizens are praising Julla as a hero for her quick actions that saved the child’s life. The boy had earlier lost consciousness after his neck became entangled in a hammock string. Thanks to Julla’s prompt intervention, the boy was revived within minutes, taken to the hospital, and is now stable.

As the story goes, Julla was practicing volleyball with her team at the court in Crossing, Libona, Bukidnon on July 26, 2024, when they heard a mother desperately calling for help from a house behind the court. Apparently, a child’s neck got entangled in a hammock string, causing him to lose consciousness.

According to Julla, the boy had no pulse during her initial assessment, prompting her to perform CPR while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

The boy regained consciousness later and taken to the nearest hospital. He is shown below with his hero at the hospital.

It was gathered that Julla first learned CPR from her mother, who is a nurse. She also received training from the Philippine Red Cross. Her skills were further reinforced through her studies at the College of Nursing (CON) and during her NSTP-ROTC classes at BukSU.
After the video went viral, Julla has earned praise from netizens who called her a “hero” for saving the boy’s life. BukSU CON Dean Dr. Ma. Algerica T. Cuenco commended Julla’s bravery and selfless actions in saving the child’s life.
