A Filipina teacher has been honored with the prestigious New York City Department of Education Big Apple Award for the 2024-2025 academic year. Dr. Catalina Suerte, a dedicated elementary special education teacher at New York City Public Schools, is among nearly 50 teachers recognized across New York City for their outstanding commitment to teaching. Before migrating to the United States, she taught at Xavier University Grade School (XUGS) in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. Congratulations!
